- Volunteering over several years
I volunteered with Reach Out to Asia over several years and was a founding member of the youth committee for ROTA’s youth programme.
My contribution
My involvement combined a place on the programme’s founding youth committee with sustained volunteering. It forms part of the early community and education work that shaped my later approach to youth programmes.
The programme’s beginnings
ROTA’s April 2009 announcement describes the launch of its Youth Development Programme and the formation of a Youth Advisory Board. Young people helped shape the programme and its first EMPOWER conference, with a focus on leadership, service learning and global citizenship.

From Qatar Foundation to Education Above All
ROTA began under Qatar Foundation and joined Education Above All Foundation in 2017. Al Fakhoora was already one of EAA’s programmes at that point. Today, EAA presents ROTA as Reach Out To All, continuing its focus on volunteering and youth advocacy.
